Welcome to our April Newsletter.
World Book Day was a huge success and we would like to say thank you to all the parents-grandparents who came and read to the children. This was our first World Book Day and we’re so pleased we had such a great response! The costumes were amazing and everyone (staff included) looked fantastic. The children had a fabulous day listening to stories and watched some story videos online.
Emma Taylor will be leaving ADO after Easter. She made the decision to move onto an indoor setting more local to home as a room leader. We would like to take this opportunity to wish her every success in her new role and thank her for the work whilst she was with ADO Mini Explorers.
As always with ADO, any staff movement creates opportunity to reflect, review and create more opportunities and we are excited to announce a change as part of our year end review in the outdoor education recruitment and training process for our CIC. We have found it very challenging to recruit high calibre Early Years teaching staff that wish to train or develop their skills and career in outdoor education so we are now moving away from recruiting all Early Years staffing or offering EY apprenticeships and are instead training within for specific positions. We are now recruiting experienced and qualified outdoor educators with extensive experience who will then upskill on the Early Years aspects with qualification as part of their role working alongside our core Early Years staffing whilst they complete this aspect of their Continuing Professional Development. This is a large investment for ADO as the salaries and skillsets are far higher for our small preschool however this will enable an even higher level of education for our specialist setting through extended learning opportunities that these skillsets will bring.
We are pleased to announce that Molly May who has been working with us for a few months due to the change afoot will soon be moving into a more senior full time position as a science educator and EY Holiday Club Leader. She has two Level 3 qualifications, one in Early Years and importantly one in Animal Management which fits brilliantly with the ADO education model.
Ebony is a level 3 experienced Early Years educator joining us after Easter. Ebony has a wealth of experience with special needs so will logically become our SENCO. She also brings a love of music and movement to the setting which we know the children will benefit from greatly!
We are very excited to announce we have also recruited a fantastic outdoor educator-instructor with over 18 years experience to be based with the Preschool Team. Cath has a fabulous skillset including Forest School Level 3, Archery, Low Ropes experience with a whole host more and will therefore be the Holiday Club Manager for this site as she brings several years of senior management of a large outdoor centre to the ADO team.
We have also recruited Megan and Rob in the wider ADO team who will both be based at our Poets Corner site, however cross working at Preschool to extend our activity and education opportunities for our children. Megan is qualified in Forest School L2 (and will be upgrading through us to L3), Archery, Low Ropes and Sport activities. Rob is a senior educator who has worked for various outdoor centres and the Princes Trust as a development instructor and is qualified in a long list of outdoor qualifications. Rob will also be our internal trainer and staff assessor for our Low Ropes activities which will extend into Preschool and Young Explorer programs utilising the local woods to the setting.
We hope you will be as excited as all of us at ADO in these new changes ahead as we continue to develop higher quality services for our local communities. As part of our 2018-2019 year end review on our pricing, we hope you will appreciate, these increased costs will need to bring some increase in September 2019 to our private fees to ensure we remain sustainable in providing such high quality education opportunities however we will as always continue to support as many places with the free government funding as we possibly can.
We will have Parent Meetings the first week back after the Easter Holidays. We are looking forward to meeting all of our parents and discussing how well your Mini Explorers are doing! The meetings will be with your Mini’s Key Worker.
